Client wanted to understand the operational and financial feasibility of high levels of renewable penetration and the impact this would have on the power markets and power equipment markets Using a proprietary model we assessed the cost of supplying firm, full requirements power to meet hourly demand at different levels of renewable penetration Granularity of the model allowed us to quantify hourly shortfalls in the energy required by the system versus the output of renewable generating fleets of different capacities Optimized the combination of renewable generation and energy storage resources to minimize the cost of supply at different levels of renewable penetration
